12th Scale Dolls from the inspired by the Cirque de Soleil Alegria.
Alegría is a mood, a state of mind. The themes of the show, whose name means "jubilation" in Spanish, are many. Power and the handing down of power over time, the evolution from ancient monarchies to modern democracies, old age, youth - it is against this backdrop that the characters of Alegría play out their lives. Kings' fools, minstrels, beggars, old aristocrats and children make up its universe, along with the clowns, who alone are able to resist the passing of time and the social transformations that accompany it.
These dolls are signed by the artisan Claire Campbell Smith who is retiring from the business.

THE CLOWN
The clowns are witnesses to the passing of centuries, the social commentators of Alegría. The clowns reflect the eternal spirit of mankind. They are grounded and realistic, telling little stories of everyday life – where everyone is a hero, where anyone can fall in love and suffer a broken heart. The clowns are visionaries – philosophers of absurdity. Endearing, comical and child-like, they turn the world into a circus.

THE NYMPH
The nymphs are youthful and ethereal. Their exuberance is infectious and their enchanting dance can melt the hardest of hearts. These gentle creatures exude sensuality and beauty as they glide across the stage.

FAIRIE OR PIXIE

This stunning doll was made by the fabulously talented Sally Hollinshead.
A non pose-able12th scale fairy, hand sculpted by SALLY from polymer clay. In her sitting position she measures 3.5 inches but would be approx 5.75 if standing. She has handmade inserted eyes and wings (which are not removable) and tiny individual lashes.

This lady is 5 1/2" tall soft bodied doll, the arms and legs are part porcelain enabling the doll to be posed, her head and torso are also porcelain. She is dressed in a beautiful Pink dupion sillk dress trimmed with rows of white lace. The over skirt is an old white lace panels, very beautiful, decorated with diamontes. The lady has a bonnet of pink straw trimmed with laces, roses and pink silk ribbons.
Beryl's dolls are made of the finest porcelain, they are painted then fired 4/5 times to get the very fine facial effects. This doll was made, painted, wigged and dressed by Beryl of Clara Cribb Dolls. (see links page for more details).
